In the midst of a record-breaking snowy October (OCTOBER!) week in Minneapolis, I saw Cat and David with their friends Derek and Charlotte (back seat) having a car picnic on a quiet street. It was Cat's birthday and they'd wanted to celebrate and have a meal together at a favorite restaurant, World Street Kitchen, but with indoor dining closed, they got creative. 

All four of them are actors/theater people usually based in New York City, but the pandemic has brought them home to Minnesota. The group radiated warmth, even though I was freezing as I stood there talking to them in the icy rain/snow. 

This may have been their first car picnic, but the roots run deep among these friends. Cat and Derek grew up together doing Minneapolis theatre, and they met David during a production of Spring Awakening by Theatre LatteDa in 2012. Cat and David started dating during that production, got married 4 years ago, and Cat excitedly told me that they are expecting their first in April of 2021.
